On June 24, 2020, Ashley Rae Christiansen Terry was taken from this earthly life way too young at the age of 29, after a year long battle with leukemia. Ashley was the most amazing wife, mother, daughter and sister.
Ashley was born on April 3, 1991 to Brad and Kelli Christiansen in Boise, Idaho. Ashley has two older sisters, Natalie and Britani. Ashley grew up in Mountain Home, Idaho where she was one of the happiest girls around. She had pure and happy energy that everyone that ever met her felt. She was often called a “Rae” of sunshine. She was involved with many sports such as volleyball, basketball, and especially softball. Her MH softball career was something she loved so much and dedicated so much of her time. Her Dad, who passed away eight years ago from cancer, loved to watch her in her position as catcher and at bat. The softball team had great success the years she was a part of the team.
Ashley loved the mountains and spending time at the family cabin in Idaho and on the boat wakeboarding at the lake.
Upon graduation, Ashley then moved to Provo, Utah where she attended Utah Valley University. It was there she met James at a mutual friend’s birthday party when he said, “Hey, cute girl, why are you sitting here all by yourself?” She thought he was weird. However, she gave him a chance because her cousin, Vicki, knew him and vouched for him. The rest is history.
Ashley was sealed to her adoring husband, James Terry of Provo, on August 3, 2012. Eventually they welcomed two beautiful children into their eternal family named Bradley (5) and Braelynn (3). They made a beautiful life in Springville, Utah. Ashley was the best mom constantly loving and adoring her beautiful children. Her biggest concern in life was her family and making sure they were loved and cared for.
Ashley adored watching her sweet babies grow up. She wanted to spend every moment with them. Being a sports fanatic, she loved watching Bradley’s T-Ball and soccer games. She couldn’t wait to get him and Braelynn signed up to participate in more sporting activities.
Bradley recently learned to ride his dirt bike without training wheels and Ashley beamed gratefully as she was there to witness it. Bradley loved having his mom right there, always checking to make sure she was focusing on just him.
Braelynn is Ashley’s little “mini me” with her sassy attitude and headstrong personality. Braelynn’s loving spirit and bright smile are just like her mommy.
Scenic drives, especially in the fall, with her family were a favorite pastime of Ashley’s (until James’ driving made her carsick). Listening to music and stopping for ice cream and a fountain drink were added treats.
Ashley fought her courageous battle with leukemia and did it without complaint or self pity. Everyone that cared for her during her fight loved her so much and often argued over who got to take care of her.
Those who were fortunate enough to know Ashley were deeply blessed by her wonderful spirit and smile. Her inspiration has led us to strive to be kinder and more loving to those around us. She was always kind, wonderfully cheerful, and positive.
Words are simply not adequate to express how much we will miss our beautiful Ashley. So many hearts here on earth are broken, but we take comfort in knowing the reunion with her Dad was a very special one. Also, Ashley will be the first to talk and walk with James’ brother, Christian, who left us last year.
Ashley is survived by her loving husband, James Terry, and sweet babies, Bradley and Braelynn, her mom, Kelli Christiansen Waters (Steve), sisters, Natalie Christiansen Bills (Eric) and Britani (Ronny) Christiansen Bergh, nieces and nephews, Avery, Brayden, Kade, and Everlee, and her grandfather, Chris Christiansen. She is also survived by her in-laws, who deeply adored her, Richard, Merilee, Zac (Aleena) and Samuel Terry, and James’ grandparents, Dick and Rhoda Zobell, and Keith and Ann Terry, and Uncle Jimmy Ogren.
Funeral services to celebrate Ashley will be held on Wednesday, July 1, at 11:00 am at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 N, Orem, Utah, with a visitation from 9:30-10:30 am.
