Carol Michie Patterson, age 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children, Tuesday February 1, 2022, of natural causes incident to age.
Carol was born December 13, 1935 in Upalco, Utah, to G. Kenneth and Yoma Michie. She was raised in Midway, Utah, and graduated from Wasatch High School and LDS Seminary. She graduated from BYU with a bachelor's degree in Clothing and Textiles and a Masters degree in costuming. She worked as the Director of Costuming for BYU and assisted with costuming for the Hill Cumorah Pageant in New York.
She married Dennis Ivan Patterson in 1963 in the Logan, Utah Temple. They had four children, Ruth (Wesley) Jones, Orem, Robert (Jennifer) Patterson, Orem, Anna (Allan) Woolley, Idaho Falls, ID, David (Tonya) Patterson, Orem. She was also blessed with 17 grandchildren, Benjamin (Emily), Joshua, Jessica (Joseph), Jason (Leda), Andrew, Jordan (Travis), Hannah, Sara (Spencer), Samuel (Autumn), Teya (Michael), Emma Lee, Ashlyn, Ryan, Spencer, Kaden, Camilla, and Brianna. She also has 7 great grandchildren, James, Collins, Melrose, Iris, Cali, Dianna, Ivan, and baby Self.
Carol blessed many with her sewing and costuming skills by working behind the scenes of many theater productions, helping missionaries with clothing, and serving many friends and families in the ward, neighborhood, and community.
Carol and Dennis were able to serve as service missionaries at Deseret Industries Employment Services and the Missionary Training Center in Provo. They were also able to serve in their dream mission to Nauvoo, Illinois, as performing and historic site missionaries.
Carol had a strong testimony of her Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her whole life. She served in many callings throughout her life. She especially loved teaching primary and being a Visiting Teacher and Ministering Sister.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Eva, her loving husband Dennis, and grandson Spencer Patterson. Her greatest joy was her family which also includes her siblings, Lois (Clare) Mahoney, Ilene (Curt) Giles, Mary (Rodger) Scoville, and Les (Janine) Michie along with their families.
Funeral will be held February 12, 2022, at the Cherry Hill Stake Center, 1700 S 400 E Orem, Utah, at 11:00am. Prior to the service there will be a public viewing from 9:30-10:30, at the same location. Burial will follow at the Midway, Utah Cemetery
