Carol Ann McNairy Wight passed away at Utah Valley Hospital at 2:22 am, on 10/03/2020. She was surrounded by her family in love and drifted peacefully away into the arms of her husband and her mother and father.

Carol Ann McNairy was born on March 12, 1942 in Santa Monica, CA to Louis B McNairy and Helen Howe McNairy. She was the oldest of 3 children. She loved playing her flute and spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved spending time with her cousins.

Carol attended BYU and met her husband Mark H Wight there and they enjoyed a sweet courtship.

They were married in March of 1964 and were together for 56 yrs until he preceded her in death in January 8th of 2020. They built their family of 3 children starting with Brett Wight (Diane), Jennie Wight Nikbakht (Francois) and then 11 yrs later with Andrew Wight (Meghan).

Carol devoted much of her life to raising her three children and making sure they had wonderful, memorable and fun childhoods and insisted they attend church every Sunday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They lived in Northern CA, Idaho, Utah, and even spent a few years in Germany exploring the European countryside, museums and breathtaking churches. It was an experience the whole family enjoyed together.

Carol was a very creative person and was an artist in the later part of her life and loved writing children’s books, drawing, painting with watercolors. Carol also enjoyed genealogy and was quite the pro at figuring out who’s who. She spent most of her time writing and painting and playing her flute pretty much up until the end.

She is survived by her sister, Marilyn McNairy Ure, her sons, Brett and Andrew Wight and daughter Jennifer Nikbakht, she has 9 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.

Due to COVID the family will be having a memorial at a later date. Graveside services will be by invitation only at 3:00p.m., Friday, October 16, 2020.

I feel very blessed and honored to have known Carol and to have had her as a friend. We first met in a Watercolor class. There I became aware of her many talents. When she and Mark moved into our ward, she shared those talents with all of us. She played her flute, both solos and with the ward choir and shared with us her children's stores and wonderful paintings. When they moved from the Orem Fourth Ward, she was greatly missed. Carol was such a big part of our circle of friends at the Orem Senior Friendship Center. Her artistry in painting, writing and playing her flute was shared freely. She will be missed by so many!
