Walter Dale Mackay (1932-2021)

I, Walter Dale Mackay passed away on April 11, 2021 surrounded by family.

I was born on February 1, 1932, in the Cottonwood Maternity home in Murray, Utah, the son of William Lloyd Mackay and Eva Clegg. I was the third of six children.

I attended Plymouth Elementary School and Junior High School, in Taylorsville, Utah, and Granite High School in Salt Lake City.

I attended the University of Utah for two years, then drafted into the Army during the Korean Conflict. Next, I spent 30 months in the West German Mission.

After my mission I attended BYU and graduated with a BA degree in Accounting and a Minor in Business Management. While at BYU, I met the love of my life and then married her, Nelda Graham, on November 25th, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Our marriage has lasted for over 62 years. We became the parents of 5 wonderful sons: Alva Dale (Provo), Lee Graham (Deceased), Brett Graham (Deceased), Richard Jay (Simla, Colorado), and Eric Frank (Provo).

I was employed at the Social Security Administration until I retired. I held many Church positions, including a Temple Ordinance Worker in the Provo, Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I was a lifelong active member of the Church.

I am survived by my lovely wife, Nelda, sons, Alva, Richard and Eric, daughters-in-law, Jennie Mackay, Karalee Mackay, and Jeannette Mackay, 7 grandsons, 7 granddaughters, 10 great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Dear Nelda,
So sorry to learn of Dale's passing. Good Memories of him as my High Council advisor when I was Stake Relief Society
President, I depended on him so much...and of course, he went to school with my Husband in Granger, in fact I have
a picture of Dale and Cal in Grade school. and I have known you forever from pioneer ward and through school. Cal
passed away last July, and I too lost 2 of my 4 children in 2016 and 2017. So I understand how very hard things have
been for you. Remember the good times. You have my Sympathy and prayers. Enjoy your remaining family, Family
Is Everything! Love, Ruth Killpack Chappell
