Obituary for Linda Mortensen (Nystrom)

Linda A Mortensen passed away after a long battle with PSP September 17, 2020.
Linda was born in American Fork, Utah December 28, 1944, a daughter of Albert John Nystrom and Katherine Johanna Nystrom.

Linda attended school in Pleasant Grove and graduated from Pleasant Grove High. After high school she worked her way through many years of college, Pasadena City College, University of Utah and BYU. She received a master’s degree in nursing and became a nurse practitioner specializing in cystic fibrosis at the University Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. She also worked many years on the Indian Reservations in Southern Utah helping the Navajo people.

Linda was never afraid to try anything. Give her a book and she would learn how to do anything from rebuilding carburetors on a car to building computers. She acquired a pilot’s license and flew planes all over even taking her mother up for her 80th Birthday. She played the piano, guitar, clarinet and accordion, she was very talented.

Linda married Charles William Mortensen August 31st 1996 in the Jordan River Utah Temple, South Jordan, Utah. Together they enjoyed traveling, visiting family and going on cruises. They had their home built in Pleasant Grove.

Linda was truly a faithful servant of our Heavenly Father. She served a mission in Seoul South Korea, did Temple work at the Mt. Timpanogos Temple along with other callings in her ward.

Linda was an angel in our family. She never had any children but always took time out of her life to do fun things with her nieces and nephews; she was also a wonderful mother and grandmother to Charles’ children and grandchildren. Family was number one priority to her. She loved us all and we will miss her.

Linda is survived by her husband Charles, sisters, Elaine Atwood Zuniga, Sandy, Utah. Elsie (Craig) Whaley, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Brother, Albert (Terri) Nystrom, Pleasant Grove, Utah.
